My son has been taking lessons from Eugene for the last couple of years and has really enjoyed his teaching style. Eugene is relaxed and patient, and is flexible enough to accommodate my son’s sometimes hectic high school schedule. I’d say he focuses quite a bit on technique, but not so much as to create any frustration. He always has good suggestions for new pieces that my son likes to play, but that also target whichever specific technique he’s hoping to help him develop. His recitals are often held at rest homes which my son surprisingly enjoyed. Eugene was also quite helpful in preparing my son for auditions for school orchestra spots—spurring him on a bit when he needed it, offering advice, and calming him down a bit too when necessary. Overall we’re really glad to have found him. – Chris
Eugene has been my teen son's violin teacher for two years, guiding him with the best attitude towards tons of quality progress on his technique and musicianship. He always knows how to line up the homework towards a progress goal at the specific level of the student. He's patient, supportive, aiming for good quality, and sensitive to each student's musical sensitivity. I feel we are very fortunate to receive his lessons. In my son's own words: he has a very good method and know's how to address my problems very well. He tells you when you're doing something well and when you're doing something wrong he doesn't just tell you you're wrong he specifically tells you what and how to practice it to make it better. The way he teaches is very detailed so that you actually improve. He has a lot of experience and from what I've seen seems to teach a variety of levels from people with some experience to people who want to reach a very high level of playing. Overall I've really liked and improved while studying with Eugene and at the moment would recommend him to anybody looking to play the violin at a high level. – Mirta
Eugene has been our daughter's violin teacher for about 6 years. He's incredibly patient, detail oriented and is keen on making sure the kids develop proper technique. Our son has been studying with Eugene for 5 years, after the recommendation from a renowned violinist. Eugene is extremely effective in his teaching methods, he keeps his students motivated and focused on musicality from lesson one while being very particular in establishing solid violin playing basics: good posture, bow hold, finger placement, and so on. As a result, our son developed deep understanding of music and artistic expression along with acquiring virtuosic technique, which allows him to play a wide range of solo repertoire and participate in various ensembles.
